The work, the need and the impact

01

The Challenge

The youth of Kenya are facing a silent crisis. With 26% of adolescents struggling with anxiety and depression , mental well-being is a critical yet often overlooked issue. This crisis is frequently exacerbated by exposure to violence, human rights violations, and deep-seated emotional stress.

Many young people feel trapped, lacking the confidence, direction, and emotional tools to navigate these hardships. Without the right support, they remain disconnected from their true potential, unable to break the cycle of hopelessness. This gap in leadership and coping skills stifles their ability to become positive, active changemakers in their own lives and communities.

02

Our Aim & Approach

YLTP drives holistic and sustainable development by transforming youth into catalysts for positive change. We provide an end-to-end solution combining mental wellness tools with value-based leadership training. This empowers participants to manage stress, expand their boundaries, and serve their communities with a deep sense of responsibility.

The YLTP approach is to conduct:

Intensive 8-day leadership training followed by two weeks of service work

Powerful breathing techniques

Daily yoga and meditation

Practical knowledge for stress-free living

Fostering a cohesive, connected team atmosphere, to nurture a sense of belongingness

Training youth mental health trainer to scale up this project

Our Impact

Since 2018,

240 young individuals trained and empowered with essential tools to promote mental well-being which resulted in a positive community impact described below.

Clean up initiatives conducted in local communities to promote a cleaner and more eco-friendly environment.

Mentorship programs for children after school hours and holidays, focused on educating them about the dangers of drug use and addiction, by setting up football and chess clubs.

Empowering local communities through informative menstrual health workshops and sanitary pad distribution

Promoting community safety through peaceful walks of advocacy

Trained youth were also selected as “mental health champions” in their respective communities, universities, colleges playing a pivotal role in bringing about positive transformation in their immediate surroundings.
