The work, the need and the impact

01

The Challenge

Imagine growing up with only school textbooks, or no books at all. For many children in India, Kenya, and Nepal, this is their reality. Schools in disadvantaged areas often lack the resources, facilities, or encouragement to foster reading beyond the prescribed curriculum. Without access to diverse books, students miss out on opportunities to expand their knowledge, skills, imagination, and love for learning.

Across the world, attention has been placed on getting children into school, but less on the quality of their education. This project directly addresses the need for quality learning by nurturing reading habits and providing access to knowledge.

02

Our Approach

The READ Library Project works to establish well-stocked school libraries in under-resourced schools.

We identify and assess schools most in need.

Schools select the books they want and commit to caring for and encouraging the use of the library.

We supply the chosen books and launch the library, often with an inaugural event to celebrate the achievement.

Our team follows up with schools to ensure continued use and gathers feedback from teachers and students.

03

Our Impact

Since its inception, the READ Library Project has achieved: India: 159 school libraries established across 20 states in 11 languages Kenya: 13 libraries created Nepal: 3 libraries launched 50,000 books donated Reaching over 30,000 school children who now have access to inspiring books

We’ve also received heartfelt letters and feedback from students sharing how their new libraries and books have inspired them.
